New>Favorite

Ctrl+N

Opens the Add a New Favorite dialog. Type (or copy) the name of the new newsfeed. If the same feed exists elsewhere among your Favorites, a warning is issued. Enter a title for the feed or click on the button right to the input field to let RSSOwl retrieve the title from the feed. If the feed is accepted, click OK to dismiss the dialog. If the dialog was launched from a category, the new feed appears within that category. If the dialog was launched from a newsfeed, the new feed appears at the same level in the tree.
New>Category

Opens the Add a New Category dialog. Type the name of the new category and click OK. If the current selection is a category or newsfeed, the new category is created at the same level in the tree. If the current selection is a subscription, the new category is created at the same level as the subscription root (you cannot create a new category within a subscription; the New Category item is unavailable to newsfeeds within subscriptions).
New>Subcategory

Opens the Add a New Category dialog. Type the name of the new category and click OK. The new category is created within the selected category.
Open...

Ctrl+O

Displays an Open dialog that lets you locate and load a newsfeed file from your local drive or network. Note: The file must be a valid newsfeed file or an error message appears in the Newsheader pane.
Close

Ctrl+W

Closes the currently selected article or newsfeed in the Newsheader pane.

Close All

Ctrl+Shift+W

Closes all articles and newsfeeds in the Newsheader pane.
Save RSS...

Ctrl+S

Opens a Save dialog to let you save the current newsfeed (the one currently in view in the Newsheader pane) to a file on your disk or network. These files can later be opened using the Open command in the File menu.
Generate PDF...

Opens a Save dialog to let you save the Newsfeed from the currently selected feed as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file.
Generate RTF...

Opens a Save dialog to let you save the Newsfeed from the currently selected feed as a RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
Generate HTML...

Opens a Save dialog to let you save the Newsfeed from the currently selected feed as a HTML (HyperText Markup Language) file.
Print newstext...

Ctrl+P

Opens your system print dialog to let you print the contents of the Newspane (Not yet supported on Linux).
Import From OPML...

Lets you add items from a saved OPML file containing a newsfeed, category, subscription, or aggregated category or subscription. Items from the imported file are positioned at the same level in the tree as the currently selected item.
Import Synchronized Blogroll...

Import a Blogroll into RSSOwl. A Blogroll contains a collection of Newsfeeds. Synchronize the Blogroll in order to keep the collection of Newsfeeds current.
Export To OPML...

Lets you save a newsfeed, category, subscription, or aggregated category or subscription to an OPML file on your local drive or network location. You can then Import the file to another position in your Favorites tree.
Work offline

Toggle between Online and Offline mode.
Exit

Ctrl+Q

Closes RSSOwl.

Switches the internal browser on and off in the News pane (Not yet supported on Solaris). Equivalent to clicking the Browser View button in the News pane's title bar. For more on switching browser settings, see "How to switch browsers."
Toolbar

Lets you switch the Toolbar pane on and off.
Quickview

Lets you switch the Quickview pane on and off.
Favorites

F11

Lets you switch the Favorites tree on and off.
Customize Toolbar

Opens a Dialog to add and remove items for the Toolbar.
Display Newsfeed in PDF

Ctrl+1

Display the current viewed newsfeed in PDF
Display Newsfeed in RTF

Ctrl+2

Display the current viewed newsfeed in RTF
Display Newsfeed in HTML

Ctrl+3

Display the current viewed newsfeed in HTML
Minimize RSSOwl

Ctrl+Shift+X

Minimizes RSSOwl to your taskbar or, if "Place RSSOwl in tray when minimized" is switched on, places the program in your system tray.

F

If a newsfeed is present in the Newsheader pane, pressing "F" (or choosing this menu item) advances the selection to the next article. Your down-arrow key also works to advance the selection (as the up-arrow key reverses the selection).
Next Unread News

N

If a newsfeed is present in the Newsheader pane, pressing "N" (or choosing this menu item) advances the selection to the next unread article.

Newsfeed

Alt+N

Mark Unread

Normally, selecting an article from a newsfeed in the Newsheader pane causes the article headline to be grayed out, indicating it has been read. This switches the status to indicate that the article has not been read.
Mark All as Read

Mark all news of the selected newsfeed read.
Reload [News/Favorites]

Ctrl+R

Lets you refresh, from the newsfeed source(s), the contents of a newsfeed or all newsfeeds in a category, subscription, or aggregated category or subscription (including all subcategories). For more on reloading newsfeeds, see "How to keep content current."
Search

Ctrl+F

Opens the Search dialog to let you search for text within titles or descriptions in the currently selected newsfeed, category, subscription, or aggregated category or subscription (including all subcategories). For details on searching newsfeeds, see "How to list or search all articles in a category at once."
Send Newstip to a Friend

Ctrl+M

Opens an email message using your default email program and loads the message with the URL of the currently selected article.
Copy Link

Lets you copy the URL of an article listed in the Newsheader pane, or any newsfeed found through the Search for Newsfeeds dialog box. After copying a URL link, you can add it to your collection by right-clicking any item in the RSS favorites tree and choosing New>Favorite.

 

Note: Articles listed in the Newsheader pane may be derived from newsfeeds already in your Favorites tree. In this pane, the Copy Link commandand an even more direct method, Add to Favoritesare normally used to incorporate newsfeeds or articles that have been loaded through the Quickview pane or by using the File|Open command.

Blog News

Executes the external blogger that has been set in the preferences and adds the informations of the selected news as arguments to the blogger.
Rate News>[value]

Lets you rate the currently selected article in the Newsheader pane. For the rating to be meaningful, you must have an AmphetaRate ID. For more on AmphetaRate and the rating/recommendations system, see "How to get articles that reflect your interests."
