Description

New>Favorite Category or newsfeed
in Favorites
(or article in Newsheader pane, as "Add to Favorites")
Opens the Add a New Favorite dialog. Type (or copy) the name of the new newsfeed. Enter a title for the feed or click on the button right to the input field to let RSSOwl retrieve the title from the feed. If the same feed exists elsewhere among your Favorites, a warning is issued. If the feed is accepted, click OK to dismiss the dialog. If the dialog was launched from a category, the new feed appears within that category. If the dialog was launched from a newsfeed, the new feed appears at the same level in the tree.
New>Category Category, Blogroll,
or newsfeed
in Favorites
Opens the Add a New Category dialog. Type the name of the new category and click OK. If the current selection is a category or newsfeed, the new category is created at the same level in the tree. If the current selection is a Blogroll, the new category is created at the same level as the Blogroll root (you cannot create a new category within a Blogroll; the New Category item is unavailable to newsfeeds within Blogroll).
New>Subcategory Category in Favorites Opens the Add a New Category dialog. Type the name of the new category and click OK. The new category is created within the selected category.
Aggregate Favorites Category or Blogroll
in Favorites
Lets you view the article lists for all newsfeeds in the currently selected category or Blogroll, and all subcategories. For more on searching categories and aggregations, see "How to list or search all articles in a category at once."
Open Newsfeed in Favorites Loads the selected newsfeed and displays current article titles in the Newsheader pane.
Edit Category or newsfeed
in Favorites
Opens an dialog to change all settings for the selected favorite. This includes Title, URL, Category, Auto Reload interval, Proxy and misc. settings
Delete Removes the selected newsfeed, or the selected category, along with any subcategories and newsfeed the category contains. A confirmation message is issued before the item is removed. Same as Delete category or newsfeed.
Unsubscribe Blogroll or subscribed newsfeed in Favorites Removes the selected Blogroll folder, along with all subcategories and newsfeeds it contains. A confirmation message is issued before the item is removed. Same as Delete category or newsfeed.
Import>From OPML File Category or newsfeed
in Favorites
Lets you add items from a saved OPML file containing a newsfeed, category, Blogroll, or aggregated category or Blogroll. Items from the imported file are positioned at the same level in the tree as the currently selected item.
Export>To OPML File Any item (category, Blogroll, or newsfeed, including aggregates)
in Favorites
Lets you save a newsfeed, category, Blogroll, or aggregated category or Blogroll to an OPML file on your local drive or network location. You can then Import the file to another position in your Favorites tree.
Reload [item type] Any item (category, Blogroll, or newsfeed)
in Favorites
Lets you refresh, from the newsfeed source(s), the contents of a newsfeed or all newsfeeds in a category, Blogroll, or aggregated category or Blogroll (including all subcategories). For more on reloading newsfeeds, see "How to keep content current."
Search Any item (category, Blogroll, or newsfeed, including aggregates)
in Favorites
Opens the Search dialog to let you search for text within titles or descriptions in the currently selected newsfeed, category, Blogroll, or aggregated category or Blogroll (including all subcategories). For details on searching newsfeeds, see "How to list or search all articles in a category at once."
Copy XML Location Newsfeed or Blogroll
in Favorites
Copies the source URL for the selected newsfeed or Blogroll to your clipboard. You can paste the data into an email, into a page on a Web site to create a link to share with friends or colleagues, or into any RSSOwl dialog that requires a newsfeed URL.
Properties Newsfeed in Favorites Lets you view the Title, URL/Path, Description, Language, date Created, and date Last Visited for the selected newsfeed. Note: If the newsfeed is invalid or unavailable (indicated by a red "x" on the item in the Favorites tree), some of this information may not be available.

Generate PDF from selected news Article in Newsheader pane Opens a Save dialog to let you save the News heading, URL, and description from the currently selected item as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file.
Generate RTF from selected news Article in Newsheader pane Opens a Save dialog to let you save the News heading, URL, and description from the currently selected item as an RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
Generate HTML from selected news Article in Newsheader pane Opens a Save dialog to let you save the News heading, URL, and description from the currently selected item as an HTML (HyperText Markup Language) file.
Copy Link Article in Newsheader pane,
any item in the Search for RSS/RDF Newsfeeds dialog box
Lets you copy the URL of an article listed in the Newsheader pane, or any newsfeed found through the Search for RSS/RDF Newsfeeds dialog box. After copying a URL link, you can add it to your collection by right-clicking any item in the Favorites tree and choosing New>Favorite.

 

Note: Articles listed in the Newsheader pane may be derived from newsfeeds already in your Favorites tree. In this pane, the Copy Link commandand an even more direct method, Add to Favoritesare normally used to incorporate newsfeeds or articles that have been loaded through the Quickview pane or by using the File|Open command.

Mark Unread Article in Newsheader pane Selecting an article from a Newsheader list automatically marks it as read and grays the item text. Mark Unread reverses that indicator to the default list color.
Mark All Read Article in Newsheader pane Mark all news of the selected newsfeed read.
Mail NewsTip to Friend Article in Newsheader pane Opens an email message using your default email program and loads the message with the URL of the currently selected article.
Blog News Article in Newsheader pane Executes the external blogger that has been set in the preferences and adds the informations of the selected news as arguments to the blogger.
Rate News>[values] Article in Newsheader pane Lets you rate the currently selected article in the Newsheader pane. For the rating to be meaningful, you must have an AmphetaRate ID. For more on AmphetaRate and the rating/recommendations system, see "How to get articles that reflect your interests."
Print News* News pane* Opens your system print dialog to let you print the contents of the News pane.
Open selection in browser News pane* Opens full article content in the Newsheader pane. If you are using an external browser to view content, the content is loaded into an instance of your selected browser.

Reverses a cut, deletion, or paste operation on selected text.
Cut Quickview URL/Path field,

Removes selected text and places it on the clipboard.
Copy News pane*,

Copies selected text to the clipboard.

 

Paste Quickview URL/Path field,
Text edit fields in dialogs
Pastes text from the clipboard, replacing selected text or, if no text is selected, copies text from the clipboard to the cursor position.
Delete
